2005

2005 was a great year...at least for me it was. I made it through another year of work without being fired, I got A's in all of my graduate business courses, I held together a relationship for more than 2 months, and I went to New Orleans and Miami for the first time in my life. I wanted to take an opportunity to reflect on 2005 by presenting my own Best of 2005 list. This is what I felt was the best in fashion, music, movies, gadgets, and whatever else I deem to be important in life. This is my own personal list and I really do not care if you like it or not. If you have good taste, then you probably will. Here it is. The best things about 2005...

The re-release of the Nike Air Max - My girlfriend kept it real and bought a pair of Nike Air Max 90's for me for Christmas. These shoes are hot. I was in junior high when these were released. I swore wearing Nike kicks made me a better athlete. Now they sit in my closet with the rest of my shoe collection. I have been living by Marc Ecko's creed for his men's magazine, Complex..."Buy, Collect, Obsess" I need to do a little less of all these in the new year. My New Year's resolution for 2006 is to not spend so much money on shoes...maybe. Alright, after Nike re-releases the entire Air Max line, then I am done...maybe.

STAR WARS III - REVENGE OF THE SITH - I don't think I need to say anything else. My friends, family, and I endured geeks battling each other in line with light sabers and people reciting their favorite Vader lines for almost two hours just to get a good seat to this flick. We finally got to see Anakin's transformation to Darth Vader, the Evil Lord of the Sith!!! F-ING SWEET!!!

The ill collaboration between MF Doom and the supa' producer, Danger Mouse...Danger Doom - This album has some neck breakin' beats and is both thought provoking and funny. You are Sofa King retarded if you don't check out this album. Danger Mouse received a great deal of publicity last year for creating The Grey Album, which everyone knows is a remix of Jay-Z's Black Album using samples from The Beatles White Album. This year, in addition to the album Danger Doom, Danger Mouse was also the featured producer for another little band called Gorrilaz..."Don't stop. Get it. Get it!"

The Jessica Alba GQ photo spread - She is by far one of the the sexiest women on the planet right now and this GQ issue with her laying around in bed completely naked only covered by flowing white cotton sheets ended up on the coffee tables of almost every single heterosexual male in America during the Spring. In 2005, she was all over the place. Her movies may not garner any Oscar nominations, but seriously, is that why you drop $10 to check out one of her movies? No. Sin City, Fantastic 4, Into The Blue...am I forgetting anything? They were definitely entertaining...at least when Miss Alba was on screen. Thank you GQ! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Bow Wow Wow Yipee Yo Yipee Yay - Even though Snoop's album dropped in late 2004 with the mega-hit "Drop It Like It's Hot", he continued to be in the media spotlight in 2005. This dude cracks me up and I am glad that he is getting paid. I am not going to be rocking any of the Pony endorsed Doggy Biscuits(shoes for those of you who don't know) in the new year, but you keep doing yo thang dogg.

Alright, it's time to get a little more personal and even sentimental. 2005 was the year I
turned 28. I am at that age where I still feel like I JUST graduated from college, even though that was six years ago, and everytime I say my age out loud I realize that I am only 2 years away from 30. I used to consider 30 to be pretty old. I now find myself complaining about new music and how it does not compare to the music I was listening to when I was growing up. This sounds much like my father or my uncle when I would play Nirvana and they would turn it off and make me listen to Neil Young. I do like Neil Young very much, but it's just too funny.

BIRTHDAY!!!
Here is a picture from my birthday, which my friends and I celebrated in San Francisco. We did a little pre-partying in an alley near the club we were about to hit up. Here's to the big 28.
..

GIRLFRIEND!?
Yeah, I said it! Shortly after my birthday, I met my girlfriend at work. I used to laugh at those who got involved with people they worked with. BAD IDEA! Well, my girlfriend and I don't technically work together. I mean we work in the same building, but we do not work in the same
business unit or anything like that. She caught my eye, though, because she was sitting only two cubicles away from me. It definitely made work more interesting. I am a sucker for cute girls who wear glasses, short skirts, and Manolo pumps. Let's just say that she definitely pushed the limits of the corporate dress code in our office. Here is a picture of her before heading off to..uh...work.

GRADUATION

My little sister Kim graduated from 8th grade in June. She is now officially a high-schooler. I don't even want to think about what this girl is going to get into, but I guess that is just part of being a big brother. Whatever.

BRO-HYMN
Another great thing about 2005 is that my brothers, who now live out in the Midwest, came out to California for Christmas break. We spent some time in both San Francisco and the East Bay. Here is a picture of all three of us outside of this great Indian restaurant where we had dinner...

See you in 2006...
